Wagram Roter Veltliner
By Josef Fritz
Origin: Wagram, Donauland, Austria
varietal: roter veltliner*
*ancestor of the more widely recognized grüner, roter veltliner gets its name not by being a red wine, but by the deep pink colour of the grape skins.
Producer's Notes: A powerful red veltliner that does not deny its origin; piquant nose, harmonious, very forceful wine, ripe with a spicy finish; this roter veltliner comes from three loess vineyards whose oldest site is planted with vines more than 60 years old. Hand-picked, carefully selected and pressed.
