Matchbook, Dunnigan Hills Estate Bottled Syrah
Origin: Dunnigan Hills, Yolo County, Central Valley, California, U.S.A.
Blend: 83% syrah, 17% petite sirah
Producer's Notes: Syrah from the Dunnigan Hills is earthy and spicy and full-bodied. We like our Matchbook Syrah with grilled lamb chops rubbed with rosemary and mustard. Equally delicious with a pasta topped with garlicy mushrooms.
The 2015 vintage was our first Estate Bottling for the Matchbook Syrah. It was crafted entirely from our Matchbook estate vineyards and winery. The native Rhone varietal offers earthy aromas of leather and plum and delivers flavors of black cherry, blueberry, dried fruit and truffles on the palate. The age-worthy Syrah has great acidity and a flavorful and lingering finish.
Matchbook celebrates the varietals that thrive out in the warm Dunnigan Hills climate. Our wines are always fruit first, with oak flavors a supporting element. The whites are pure, 100% varietal, while the reds are blended in the spirit of complexity and character.
