Nichol Cabernet Franc
Origin: Naramata Village, Okanagan Valley, B.C., Canada
Varietal: cabernet franc
Wine Making: Hand-picked on October 22nd 2013. De-stemmed in to open top fermenters. Basket pressed with malolactic taking place in neutral French barrique. Raised in neutral (3-6 years old) French oak barrels for 12 months. Racked twice and bottled unfined and unfiltered in March 2015.
Tasting Note: Dark ruby. Youthful, vibrant. Garrigue, rhubarb, soil and cranberry on the nose. Crunchy, packed palate of sage, iron and sweet rhubarb. The tannins are firm but very fine in 2013 and though thye will require a few years to resolve this is one of the more delineated Cabernet Franc's we have grown in years especially at this early stage. This is ripe Cabernet Franc that never forgets it is still varietal Cabernet Franc. Now – 2024+.
