Élevage Selections was founded by Jesse Oberman in 2015, Jesse has also recently launched Next Friend Cider Co. - more on that to come in summer 2021! Below is a little bit about Jesse and his passion for bringing great low-intervention wines to Manitoba:

About Élevage Selections:

Jesse was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he worked in hospitality and restaurants for many years. First cooking in professional kitchens, then serving, pouring wine and organizing pop-up and catering events across the city.

In 2015 he founded Élevage Selections with Taylor Archibald after returning home from an incredible, months-long trip to France, Italy, Spain and Germany. Jesse brought home a rucksack filled with some of Europe's best natural wines, which at the time were unavailable in Manitoba. Through the wines they were inspired to start an importing company together although Taylor has now moved on to other ventures. 

Over the years Jesse has also lived and worked in London, England where he completed his WSET Diploma and managed the wine program at Terriors Wine Bar before working as a sommelier at P Franco. He has also lived throughout France spending the majority of his time working in the vineyards and cellars of Burgundy and Alsace. His years living in Europe provided ample opportunity for travel and allowed Jesse to visit, explore and work in many of the wine regions represented by Élevage Selections. Jesse now lives in Winnipeg.
