Abel Mendoza Malvasía - Rioja DOCa, Spain
A beautifully expressive white from Abel Mendoza & Maite Fernández in San Vicente de la Sonsierra in Rioja Alta. Made from 100% Malvasía, this wine highlights a traditional Rioja grape that was once common but is now rarely bottled on its own. The wine is fermented in new French oak barrels and aged on its lees for around five months, giving additional texture and subtle spice while preserving the purity of the fruit. The nose shows elegant aromas of pear, quince, peach and citrus, with subtle floral and lightly smoky notes from oak ageing. On the palate it is textured and structured, combining ripe orchard fruit with vibrant acidity and a gentle hint of vanilla before a long, refined finish.
