Ausàs Interpretación Tempranillo 2020 - Ribera del Duero, Spain
A seriously expressive, concentrated Tempranillo from one of Ribera del Duero’s most exciting new voices. The 2020 Interpretación shows ripe dark fruit - think blackberry, plum and bramble - with spicy notes of five-spice, cocoa and orange rind alongside subtle earthy and savoury nuances. The palate is plush and layered, with deep fruit framed by lively acidity and fine tannins, finishing long with complexity and poise. It’s a blend of power and elegance that reflects both old-vine Tempranillo and meticulous winemaking.
Xavier Ausàs is a Catalan-born winemaker whose long career includes more than two decades at the legendary Vega Sicilia estate, where he worked first under Mariano García and later as Technical Director, helping shape some of Spain’s most prestigious wines. After leaving Vega Sicilia in 2015, he founded Ausàs Bodegas y Viñedos, drawing on deep knowledge of Ribera del Duero’s terroir and long-standing relationships with local growers to craft wines that balance ripe fruit, freshness and textured tannins. Interpretación - his flagship Tempranillo - reflects his personal vision for the region and has quickly gained acclaim for its expressive depth and elegance.
