C.V.N.E. Contino Gran Reserva - Rioja, Spain
Producer's notes:
The Contino Gran Reserva is the most elegant wine produced at the winery. It stays true to the essence of classic Rioja wines while constantly striving to evolve its style.
A selection of the best soils from the vineyards is used to produce the Contino Reserva to offer the best possible wine in terms of acidity, concentration and maturity. Aged in barrels for 24 months.
What we say:
From the prestigious estate of Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) in Rioja Alavesa, Contino Gran Reserva stands out as the winery’s flagship red - an elegant, modern Rioja built for both immediate enjoyment and long-term ageing. Grapes are sourced from the estate’s top vineyards, vinified carefully, then aged for 24 months in French oak (new & used) before extended maturation in bottle.
Expect an aromatic palette of black cherry, plum, cedar, and grilled herbs, with subtle spice and tobacco notes. On the palate it is medium-full bodied with fine tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, polished finish.
Grape varieties: 82% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo, 3% Garnacha
Style: Refined, structured, age-worthy Rioja Gran Reserva
Drink window: Now–2035+
Perfect for: Roast lamb, aged cheeses, rich stews, fine dining or special-occasion cellaring.
