Producer's Notes:
As if a quiet conductor of nature's bounty, the Calliope hummingbird impulsively flies throughout the South Okanagan Valley. Inspired by the figure-eight flight pattern of this lovely bird's wings, we named this wine "Figure 8" to symbolize the seamless integration of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon that comprise the blend. Our winemakers take cues from the energetic flight of these delicate creatures and create their own distinctive tribute to nature's gift. The results are wines made free of convention that are truly unique and of the highest quality.

From the same wine-making family behind Burrowing Owl, Calliope's wines are highly approachable, with expressive regional fruit, creating a fruit-forward red that brings together generous berry flavours, refreshing acidity, and subtle savoury complexity.
The nose opens with aromas of blackcurrant, red currant, ripe plum and raspberry, complemented by maraschino cherry and delicate floral violet. Subtle notes of dried sage and fresh herbs add a savoury dimension. On the palate, juicy red plum, red cherry and currant flavours take centre stage, supported by crisp acidity and supple, medium-weight tannins. Hints of dried thyme, spice and gentle earthiness carry through to a lingering savoury finish.
