Cascina Penna-Currado ‘E.P.’ Timorasso - Colli Tortonesi, Piedmont, Italy

Producer's Notes:

On the nose, there are notes of yellow fruit and white acacia and camomile flowers, as well as subtle tropical hints. Submerged-cap maceration adds complexity and structure on the palate, while preserving the wine’s distinctive acidity, minerality, crispness and aromatic complexity. Timorasso is a white wine meant for a long period of ageing, so it should be opened in advance and served in a decanter at a temperature no lower than 16°C in order to bring out its complexity.

What we say:

From the newly established but deeply experienced Penna-Currado estate, the ‘E.P.’ Timorasso (standing for Elena & Penna) comes from oak-deep, steep hillside vineyards in the Colli Tortonesi zone. This single-varietal Timorasso offers a rare combination of place-driven minerality, textured fruit and poised freshness.

On the nose you’ll find ripe stone-fruit - white peach and apricot - interlaced with lemon peel, crushed chalk and almond skin. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied with bright acidity, orchard-fruit flavour, creamy lees texture and a finely etched mineral spine that gives the wine focus and length. Though quite expressive now, it shows the structure to age with grace in the cellar.
