Celler de Capçanes ‘Peraj Petita’ Red - Montsant (Catalonia), Spain

Producer's Notes:

Medium intensity ruby hue. Intense aromas of red fruits. In the mouth a soft entrance is perceived with notes of spices and vanilla. Then, we can find notes of very ripe red fruits, with cherries and raspberries. Soft and ripe tannins in a medium body. This kosher red wine pairs well with a wide variety of dishes, from meats to rice and baked vegetables. We recommend pairing this wine with creamy cheeses, light curries and sautéed vegetables.

What we say:

Warm, generous and beautifully polished, ‘Peraj Petita’ is a richly fruited Montsant red that balances Mediterranean ripeness with freshness and spice. It opens with ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum layered over notes of liquorice, cocoa, cracked pepper and wild herbs. There’s a subtle smoky, mineral edge beneath the fruit that gives the wine depth without pulling it away from its approachable, fruit-forward style.

The palate is smooth and medium to full-bodied, with rounded tannins and a supple texture that make it immediately appealing, while lively acidity keeps the wine energetic and food-friendly. Made from organically farmed vineyards and aged partly in French oak, it gains gentle spice and structure without overwhelming the fruit. The result is a wine that feels both comforting and refined, finishing long, savoury and softly spiced.

Certified kosher since the winery began its pioneering kosher programme in the 1990s, ‘Peraj Petita’ is produced under the strict supervision of the Jewish Community of Barcelona and carries both Lo Mevushal (non-pasteurised) and Kosher for Passover (Le Pessaj) certification. The wine is also vegan-certified, with every stage of production - from fermentation to bottling - handled according to kosher winemaking practices, making it one of the benchmark kosher wines of Spain.
