Origin:  Picone Vineyard, Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada

Varietal: Riesling

Producer's notes:

Vivid nose of sliced apple with notes of peach and clementine tucked in behind some out-front aromas of clay and limestone showing some development already. A half-imagined whisper of brand new tennis ball hanging evocatively in the background foreshadows petrol notes yet to come…

The peach continues on the palate, rich and persistent, with some lemon and lime providing balance and nerve. Tangy and racy, but a plush seam of fleshy peach Melba is the reward here. The mineral notes observed on the nose are still evolving on the palate. Delicious now but with a bright future for those who like to drink their Rieslings with a bit of age.

Charles Baker Wines uncovers special Riesling sites in the Niagara Peninsula. The Niagara Escarpment is a special and rare base on which to grow wine. The bedrock dates back millions of years and is constantly shifting and evolving. Lake Ontario, close by, enables the vineyards to survive extreme conditions. The nature of our climate guarantees wines of finesse, ageability and enjoyability. All 'CB' wines are brought to bottle at Stratus Vineyards by the finest and most devoted group of winemakers in all of Canada.
