Château Beau-Séjour Bécot Premier Grand Cru Classé 2022 - Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France

Producer's Notes:

Located immediately west of the magical town of Saint-Émilion on the Saint-Martin de Mazerat limestone plateau, Beau-Séjour Bécot is in the heart of the appellation. The 2022 vintage promises to be one of the best for Château Beau-Séjour Bécot. Thanks to favourable weather conditions, this vintage exhibits exceptional concentration, with fine tannins and great aromatic intensity.

The 2022 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru, has a bouquet that is expressive and intense, revealing notes of ripe red fruits (raspberry, black cherry) mingled with woody and vanilla nuances, with a delicate touch of spices (cinnamon, clove). The oak is fine and well integrated, reflecting perfectly controlled barrel aging. On the palate, this wine is both full-bodied and silky. The tannins are well-integrated, offering a beautiful texture and long aromatic persistence. The ripe fruit flavours harmonise with slightly toasted and spicy notes. The finish is racy, marked by a lovely freshness and an elegant minerality, characteristic of its limestone terroir.

What we say:

A standout vintage from this esteemed Saint-Émilion estate, the 2022 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot delivers remarkable depth, perfume and precision while remaining beautifully balanced. Rich aromas of black cherry, plum, violet and crushed stone are complemented by floral lift, cedar and subtle spice, leading into a medium-to-full-bodied palate where concentrated fruit sits alongside ultra-fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Seamless yet powerful, this wine shows both the lush Merlot-driven character of the Right Bank and the chalky mineral energy of Saint-Émilion plateau soils, making it compelling now and thrilling with age.

Grape varieties: Predominantly Merlot (76%) with Cabernet Franc (22%) and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon (2%)

Style: Dry red, structured Bordeaux
