Château de Fieuzal Rouge 2023 - Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, France
Elegant, aromatic and beautifully refined, Château de Fieuzal 2023 is a superb expression of one of Graves' most historic classified growths. It opens with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and ripe cherry, layered with violet, cedar, graphite, forest floor and a distinctive smoky mineral character that is so typical of Pessac-Léognan. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with vibrant dark fruit, silky tannins and bright acidity bringing precision and energy to every sip. Rich without excess, it finishes long and graceful, with notes of cocoa, spice and crushed stone lingering on the palate.
The 2023 is a blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot, sourced from the estate's renowned gravelly, sandy soils in Léognan. Under the guidance of Stephen Carrier, Château de Fieuzal has established itself as one of the rising stars of Pessac-Léognan, producing wines that combine classical Graves elegance with increasing depth and precision. Careful élevage in French oak enhances the wine's structure and complexity while allowing the purity of the fruit and the character of the terroir to remain centre stage.
