Château Laroque Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé - Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France
A benchmark example of modern Saint-Émilion, Château Laroque combines impressive depth with remarkable freshness and finesse. Layers of ripe blackberry, black cherry and cassis are interwoven with aromas of violets, graphite, cedar and subtle baking spice. The palate is beautifully poised, offering silky yet structured tannins, vibrant acidity and the hallmark chalky minerality of the estate's limestone plateau. Powerful without feeling heavy, it finishes long and refined, with lingering notes of dark fruit, cocoa and crushed stone.
The 61-hectare estate sits atop one of Saint-Émilion's largest continuous limestone plateaux, where old vines and exceptional terroir produce wines of striking precision and longevity. Since David Suire took over as technical director, Château Laroque has undergone a remarkable renaissance, with meticulous parcel-by-parcel vineyard management, massal vine selection and a more restrained approach to oak allowing the purity of the fruit and the distinctive limestone character to shine through. Today it is widely regarded as one of the appellation's outstanding value Grand Cru Classé estates.
