Producer's Notes:

Made from a traditional blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc grapes, L’Eglise Clinet has a finely tuned nose with precise fruit and blossom aromas which are lively and playful. The wine is welcoming and soft with notes of fresh Autumn berries, a touch of balsam and forest floor. Good depth and a vein of graphite and tannin structure runs through the wine. It is high toned with a seriousness which holds the wine in check, but the finish is full of the same high-toned fruit and energy as was found in the attack. This is a fascinating Église Clinet, true to the earlier vintages and very true to the estate. A great wine of confidence and insouciance.

What we say:

Château L’Eglise-Clinet 2022 – Pomerol

Producer: Denis Durantou / Famille Durantou

The 2022 L’Eglise-Clinet is a striking reminder of why the late Denis Durantou remains one of Pomerol’s most influential figures. Crafted today by his daughters and longtime cellar team, the wine carries his signature precision, purity, and quiet power - delivering one of the vintage’s most compelling expressions of Merlot.

Aromatically intense, it opens with layers of black cherry, plum, violets, graphite, and warm spice. On the palate, the 2022 shows that classic L’Eglise-Clinet combination of depth and restraint: voluptuous fruit wrapped in fine, mineral-driven structure. The tannins are ultra-polished, the mid-palate is dense and seamless, and the finish hums with dark fruit and savoury tension.

Despite the richness of the vintage, this is never heavy - just beautifully composed, long-lived Pomerol. Give it time and it will reward patience for decades.
