Profound, captivating and exceptionally refined, Château L'Église-Clinet 2023 is one of the defining wines of the vintage and a magnificent expression of Pomerol. The nose is intensely perfumed, revealing layers of black cherry, blackberry and cassis alongside violet, lilac, graphite, truffle, Earl Grey tea and exotic spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied, combining remarkable concentration with effortless grace. Silky, perfectly integrated tannins frame a core of vibrant dark fruit, while bright acidity and an unmistakable mineral freshness carry the wine to an extraordinarily long, harmonious finish. Under the direction of the Durantou family (whom we are huge fans of here at KWM!), Château L'Église-Clinet has earned its place among the greatest estates of Pomerol. The 2023 vintage is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, harvested between 10 and 14 September and matured in approximately 82% new French oak. The estate's gravel and deep clay soils produce wines renowned for their remarkable balance of richness and freshness, while meticulous vineyard management and low yields ensure exceptional concentration without sacrificing elegance. The result is a wine of extraordinary purity, complexity and longevity that beautifully reflects both its terroir and the exceptional craftsmanship of the estate.
