Chateau les Hauts de Caillevel 'les Brumes' Sauvignon Gris  - Monbazillac, France

Producer's Notes:

This Monbazillac is fruity, featuring aromas of honey, citrus, apricot, and pineapple, yet it maintains an excellent balance between sweetness and acidity, along with lovely freshness. "Les Brumes" is ideal for pairing with aperitifs, fruit, sweet desserts (especially those with slight acidity or bitterness), Asian dishes, as well as blue and strong cheeses.

What We Say:

A beautifully expressive sweet Monbazillac from the Dordogne in southwestern France, made from grapes affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). The name refers to the autumn mists that develop around the Gardonette stream near the estate. It's an essential part of the microclimate that encourages botrytis and allows the grapes to develop the concentration and complexity required for Monbazillac.

The palate is rich, velvety and sweet, but balanced by refreshing acidity. Rather than having an overwhelming presence of sugar, the wine offers a lovely combination of ripe fruit, honeyed richness, and vibrant freshness.
