Château Marjosse Rouge 2023 - Bordeaux, France
Approachable yet unmistakably refined, Château Marjosse Rouge 2023 is a beautifully crafted Bordeaux that delivers exceptional character and value. Aromas of ripe blackberry, cassis and dark cherry are complemented by delicate floral notes, cedar, subtle spice and a touch of graphite. The palate is medium-bodied, juicy and impeccably balanced, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a core of fresh dark fruit that carries through to a long, elegant finish. Charming in its youth, it also has the structure to reward several years in the cellar.
The personal estate of Pierre Lurton, renowned for his stewardship of Château Cheval Blanc and Château d'Yquem, Château Marjosse lies in the Entre-Deux-Mers, just east of Bordeaux. The 2023 vintage is a blend of approximately 55% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec, with each parcel vinified separately following a short cold maceration to maximise freshness and fruit purity. The wine is matured in a combination of 400-litre French oak barrels and cement tanks, preserving its vibrant character while adding subtle complexity and texture. Sustainable vineyard practices and vines averaging 25 years of age—some over 75 years old—contribute further depth and concentration.
