A flagship wine from the world-class Clos Apalta estate, the 2020 vintage is a powerful yet remarkably refined expression of this iconic Bordeaux-style blend. Widely regarded as one of South America’s greatest wines, Clos Apalta continues its run of exceptional vintages with a release that balances richness, structure and precision.

Founded in the 1990s, Clos Apalta has become one of the most celebrated estates in the Southern Hemisphere, with multiple appearances in the Wine Spectator Top 100 and a reputation for producing wines of exceptional depth and longevity. 

The wine is crafted from old vines grown on the sheltered slopes of Apalta and aged for around 27 months in French oak (majority new), building depth, structure and complexity while maintaining balance. 

The 2020 opens with a complex aromatic profile of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum, layered with notes of cigar box, cocoa, graphite and spice. On the palate it is full-bodied and deeply structured, with dense dark fruit, ultra-fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Despite its intensity, there is a notable freshness and elegance, leading to a long, mineral-tinged finish with impressive persistence and polish. 

Grape varieties: 64% Carménère, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot
