Clos L’Église 2020 - Pomerol, Bordeaux, France

Opulent, polished and unmistakably Pomerol, Clos L’Église 2020 opens with deep plum, black cherry and blackberry, layered with violet, truffle, liquorice, chocolate, mint and a subtle smoky-earthy edge. The palate is full-bodied, plush and velvety, with a dense core of ripe dark fruit wrapped in silky tannins and lifted by enough freshness to keep the wine poised rather than heavy. There’s real Right Bank luxury here - dark, supple and generous - but also a mineral, savoury undertone that gives it shape and seriousness, finishing long with black fruit, cocoa, spice and a touch of salinity.

Made from a classic Pomerol blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2020 was matured for around 18 months in French oak barrels. The Merlot brings the wine’s plush, velvety fruit and breadth, while Cabernet Franc adds perfume, freshness and structure, helping balance the richness of the vintage.
