Domaine Cheysson 'L'Exception' Beaujolais Blanc - Chiroubles, Beaujolais, France
Producer's Notes:
A fresh, unoaked Chardonnay from the Chiroubles appellation of Beaujolais. Notes of yellow peach, apricot, and limestone.
What We Say:
Chardonnay is unusual in Chiroubles, whose reputation rests mostly on Gamay and red wine. Domaine Cheysson has a small Chardonnay parcel planted on the area's granite, allowing the producer to create a white wine with a distinctly different personality from the richer, more buttery style usually associated with Chardonnay.
This wine is bright and golden in appearance, with aromas of white flowers, peach, and ripe white fruit, along with citrus, mineral notes, and, in some vintages, subtle nutty or toasted nuances.
Grape Varietal: Chardonnay
Style: White - Dry, medium-bodied, unoaked, fresh, mineral and gently rounded

A wonderful example of the lesser-known white side of Beaujolais—offering many of the qualities Chardonnay drinkers look for in white Burgundy.
