Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2023 - Burgundy, France

Domaine Dugat-Py is one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s historic estates, with a style that has evolved from powerful, tannic wines toward greater precision, nuance and finesse under the direction of Loïc Dugat-Py, while still retaining impressive depth and structure.

A flagship village wine from Domaine Dugat-Py, this Vieilles Vignes Gevrey-Chambertin represents the heart of the estate’s holdings - and a benchmark for old-vine Pinot Noir in the Côte de Nuits. Sourced from multiple parcels across the appellation, planted largely between the mid-1960s and 1980s, it delivers both concentration and classic Gevrey structure.

At Dugat-Py, Vieilles Vignes is a serious designation - the domaine is renowned for its exceptionally old vine material (often 65–100+ years), producing low yields and highly concentrated fruit with strong ageing potential.

The 2023 vintage delivers a compelling balance of ripeness and freshness, giving wines both generosity and lift - particularly important in structured wines like Gevrey-Chambertin.

In the glass it opens with expressive aromas of black cherry, cassis and wild strawberry, layered with violet, spice and subtle earthy notes. On the palate it is medium-to-full-bodied and beautifully structured, combining dense red and dark fruit with fine, firm tannins and vibrant acidity. There is a clear mineral backbone and savoury depth throughout, leading to a long, persistent finish that reflects both terroir and old-vine intensity.
