Dugat-Py Pommard “La Levrière” Vieilles Vignes 2022 - Pommard, Burgundy, France
From the small 0.78 ha parcel planted in 1946, this La Levrière wine is produced biodynamically and garners attention from Burgundy collectors for its old-vine depth, traditional methods and the pedigree of the estate.
It's a classic old-vine Pommard: expect dark cherry, blackberry and wild-plum fruit, layered with forest-floor earth, leather, spice and a smoky clay/mineral edge. The palate is firm yet refined - structured tannins, good concentration, and a long finish shaped by clay-limestone soils and thoughtful élevage. This is Pinot Noir with age-worthy structure and real Burgundy character.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Farming: Organic / biodynamic practices, old vines (planted 1946)
Style: Structured, mineral-driven old-vine Burgundy red - serious, age-worthy, traditional
Drink window: Now (with decanting) through mid-to-late 2030s
Perfect for: Roast duck or game, braised red meats, mushroom-based dishes, aged cheese, or cellar-worthy drinking
A rare old-vine Pommard - mineral-drenched, deeply structured and built for the long haul.
Food Pairing Suggestions
-
Roast duck or game (venison, pheasant) - the wine’s forest-floor earthiness and structured tannins pair beautifully with richer, gamey meats.
-
Beef bourguignon or slow-braised beef cheeks - the wine’s structure and concentration stand up well to hearty, slow-cooked dishes.
-
Mushroom risotto or wild mushroom ragù - the earthy, mineral character of the wine complements fungi-rich dishes.
-
Charcuterie and aged cheese (Comté, aged Gouda, Morbier) - the structured tannins balance salty, fatty meats and rich cheeses.
-
Truffle pasta or dishes with black pepper and herbs - the wine’s depth and complexity enhance aromatic, savoury flavours.
