Emandare ‘Valley Red’ - Cowichan Valley, British Columbia, Canada

Producer's Notes:

A unique blend of two very familiar grapes to the Cowichan Valley. 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Maréchal Foch, whole cluster fermented separately and blended together in neutral french oak barrels to rest for 12 month. Very juicy, soft and round on your palate. An everyday red wine. Bright and refreshing wild red cherry, garden raspberry and orchard apple with a mouth watering texture that is meant for more than just sipping.

What we say:

Fresh, vibrant and unmistakably Vancouver Island, Valley Red brings together the elegance of Pinot Noir with the darker fruit and structure of Maréchal Foch. Aromas of cherry, raspberry and cranberry mingle with notes of plum, forest floor and gentle spice. The palate is medium-bodied and energetic, with bright acidity, supple tannins and a savoury edge that reflects the cool-climate character of the Cowichan Valley. Juicy and approachable in its youth, it offers plenty of flavour without sacrificing freshness or balance.

Produced in Emandare’s low-intervention "house style", the wine reflects the winery’s commitment to naturally grown fruit and transparent winemaking. The blend combines classic vinifera character with a grape that has become an important part of Vancouver Island’s wine story, resulting in a red that feels both distinctly local and wonderfully drinkable. Emandare farms organically and dry farms its vineyards, allowing the unique Cowichan Valley terroir to shine through in every vintage.
