What we say:
Fattoria Moretto ‘Dimóndi’ Pignoletto — Emilia-Romagna, Italy
A lively, easy-drinking white from the autochthonous grape Pignoletto (aka Grechetto Gentile), as interpreted by the family-run estate Fattoria Moretto.
On the nose: a breezy lift of spring-flowers, white-peach blossom and fresh citrus zest — think pear, green apple and a touch of summer herbs. On the palate: dry and crisp, with bright acidity, lightly juicy orchard and stone-fruit flavours, gentle citrus (lemon, maybe a touch of grapefruit) and a subtly savoury edge; the feel is light-bodied, refreshing and quaffable. The lift from the bubbles adds a touch of fizzy magic to every sip.
Grape variety: 100% Pignoletto
Style: Light, fresh Italian gently sparkling white - bright, floral/fruit-driven and straightforward
Drink window: Best enjoyed young and fresh (drink within 12 months of purchase)
Perfect for: Light-fleshed fish, seafood, shellfish, salads, white meat, antipasti, simple pastas or as a relaxed aperitif
A cheerful, approachable Pignoletto - not weighty or complex, but fresh, food-friendly and honest; a straightforward lightly-bubbly white for easy drinking or casual meals.
