Frescobaldi CastelGiocondo Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1999 - Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
A mature, elegant Riserva from Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi’s historic CastelGiocondo estate - a wine that illustrates how well Brunello can develop over decades when built for longevity.
On the nose: initially reserved but slowly unfolding into aromas of dried and fresh cherries, plum, forest floor, leather, cedar and a faint touch of underbrush and spice - classic Sangiovese-Montalcino complexity. On the palate: medium- to medium-full bodied, with softened tannins and a gently savoury core. Layers of dried red fruit, dried herbs, earth and leather evolve into subtle tobacco and forest-floor notes. Acidity remains lively, giving lift and balance, while the finish is long and contemplative, showing the harmonious maturity of a well-aged Brunello.
Grape variety: 100% Sangiovese
Style: Mature Tuscan Brunello - refined, earthy and nuanced
Drink window: Now - within the next few years
Perfect for: Traditional Tuscan fare (braised beef, wild game, pappardelle with ragù), aged cheeses, mushroom dishes, or contemplative glass by the fire

A refined, complex Brunello-Riserva that captures old-world Tuscan character at maturity - perhaps not youthful or flamboyant, but beautifully developed, with depth, elegance and subtlety, and perfectly aged now.
*Please be aware that with all vintage wines, the natural corks may crumble if using a regular corkscrew. Please use proper uncorking tools and exercise caution. Sediment will settle in the bottle over time therefore decanting prior to serving will remove this deposit. We're happy to advise - drop us a message or give us a call!
