Vidal-Fleury GSM Red Blend - Rhône Valley, France
Producer's Notes:
Its nose is immediate and fresh based on red fruits. Its mouth is easy to approach, with fullness and roundness. The tannins are supple. The aromas are dominated by red fruits spiced with pepper. A good length which remains supple and fresh.
What we say:
Rich, supple and unmistakably Rhône-inspired, this GSM blend (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre) delivers a generous mix of ripe red and black fruit - strawberry, damson, blackberry - layered with licorice, spice and a touch of savoury garrigue herbs. There’s a warm, southern French feel here, with fruit-forward charm balanced by subtle earthy and peppery nuances.
The palate is smooth and medium to full-bodied, with soft tannins and a rounded texture that keeps it approachable, while integrated spice and a lightly savoury core add depth. Made in a polished, modern style, it leans more towards drinkability than structure, finishing juicy, gently spiced and satisfying.
Sourced from select vineyards across the southern Rhône Valley, the grapes for this blend are typically drawn from warm, sun-drenched sites where Grenache thrives, alongside Syrah and Mourvèdre from slightly cooler or more structured parcels. The region’s mix of clay, limestone and stony soils - often with the classic galets roulés - helps retain heat and promote full ripening, resulting in generous fruit while still preserving enough freshness to keep the wine balanced and approachable.
