The Winery of Good Hope Full Berry Pinotage
Producer's Notes:
Two remarkable old vineyards were chosen for this interesting example of Pinotage. The first, planted on the slopes of Klapmutskop outside Stellenbosch brings ripe, full and fleshy fruit notes. The second vineyard comes from the Voor Paardeberg, where the sandy, granite soils produce wine with lovely tension and superb texture.
What we say:
A playful, fruit-forward take on South Africa’s signature red grape, this Full Berry Pinotage from The Winery of Good Hope leans into freshness and drinkability rather than heavy extraction or oak weight. The wine shows juicy aromas and flavours of blackberry, plum and wild black fruits with a hint of spice and savoury earthiness, and the palate is lively and refreshing with supple tannins and a clean finish. Made using a “full berry” approach where whole berries are fermented to coax out gentle fruit expression, this Pinotage highlights the better-natured side of the variety without the rustic edge some examples can show.
