Domaine Drouhin Oregon ‘Roserock Zéphirine’ Pinot Noir - Eola-Amity Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA
Producer's Notes:
Our Zéphirine Pinot Noir is a barrel selection cuvée from the Roserock vineyard, and is a reference expression of the site. Zéphirine conveys purity and beauty, reflects winemaker Véronique Drouhin’s dedication to elegance and finesse, and will age meaningfully for years to come. The name refers to the Zéphirine Drouhin variety of climbing rose, which is known for its fragrance and beauty.
Our 2021 Roserock Zéphirine Pinot Noir gets right to the point: it is a fragrant, complex, exuberant expression of our vineyard, and its potential longevity is inspiring. On the nose, black currants, violet and lavender invite exploration. On the palate, juicy blue/black notes of wild berries and subtle earthiness wrap around a touch of spice. The tannins are firm yet elegant, providing a smooth mouthfeel and a long, satisfying finish.
What we say:
Elegant, perfumed and beautifully polished, ‘Zéphirine’ is the top barrel-selection cuvée from Domaine Drouhin Oregon’s Roserock vineyard, showing the Burgundian finesse of the Drouhin family through an unmistakably Oregon lens. It opens with vivid red and black fruit - raspberry, cherry, blackberry bramble and bilberry - layered with rose petal, purple flowers, white pepper, cedar and a cool, stony mineral edge. The palate is silky and finely structured, with bright acidity, supple tannins and a poised core of fruit that feels generous without heaviness. There’s real aromatic lift here, but also depth and age-worthy precision, finishing long, elegant and quietly complex.
Sourced from the Roserock estate in the Eola-Amity Hills, ‘Zéphirine’ is a barrel-selection Pinot Noir intended as a reference expression of the site. The vineyard sits on south- and east-facing slopes at roughly 550–750 feet elevation, planted on volcanic soils, and is LIVE Certified Sustainable. The name refers to the fragrant Zéphirine Drouhin climbing rose, reflecting winemaker Véronique Drouhin’s focus on purity, beauty, elegance and finesse.
