Alain Thiénot ‘La Vigne Aux Gamins’ Champagne 2009
Producer's Notes:
Supreme expression of the Thiénot signature, the particular aging of this vintage and single-varietal cuvée preserves the typicality of the terroir, the year and the natural aromas of Chardonnay. La Vigne aux Gamins is a unique cuvée, full of flavours.
What we say:
A proper “special-occasion Blanc de Blancs” - and one that really shines at the table. La Vigne Aux Gamins is a Chardonnay-only cuvée from Alain Thiénot, built around purity, structure, and the expression of vintage Champagne rather than overt richness or dosage-driven charm. Made with care and precision from grapes grown in the "Children's Vineyard" in Champagne, this is a "classic of the genre" that will drink as well today as it will years into the future.
In the glass, this leans decisively vinous. Bright citrus oil and orchard fruit lead, followed by classic brioche and pastry notes, all framed by a chalky, mineral backbone. The palate is taut and precise, with a dry, persistent finish that keeps the wine feeling focused and food-friendly rather than opulent. There’s a real sense of energy here - Champagne that rewards attention and pairing, not just popping and pouring.
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs)
Style: Vintage Blanc de Blancs Champagne - dry, mineral, structured
Drink Window: Now–2035 (and comfortably beyond for well-stored bottles)
Perfect For: Oysters, scallops, sashimi, roast chicken, creamy pastas, triple-cream cheeses
A serious, Chardonnay-driven vintage Champagne with poise and tension - made for the table and for moments that deserve something genuinely special.
