Le Petit Ducru de Ducru‑Beaucaillou 2021 - Saint-Julien, Bordeaux, France
A refined and approachable Saint-Julien from the esteemed Ducru-Beaucaillou estate, Le Petit Ducru blends Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot into a medium- to full-bodied Bordeaux that’s both expressive and balanced. The 2021 shows bright dark and red fruit - think plum, blackberry and cassis - with gentle spice, cedar and subtle savoury notes. On the palate it’s lively and well-structured, with polished tannins and a freshness that keeps the finish poised and food-friendly. A terrific example of how a top château’s second wine can offer classic Médoc character with earlier approachability.
Grape varieties: 80% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot
Style: Dry red, medium-full-bodied Bordeaux
Drink window: Now–2032
Perfect for: Roast lamb, beef bourguignon, grilled game, charcuterie, tomato-based pasta
An elegant, expressive Saint-Julien second wine - approachable now but built with Bordeaux pedigree.
