Mariana Tinto - Alentejano VR, Portugal
Approachable, polished and full of vibrant Mediterranean character, Mariana Tinto is a beautifully crafted everyday red that consistently overdelivers. Aromas of ripe blackberry, plum and black cherry are complemented by notes of violet, sweet spice and a touch of dried herbs. The palate is smooth and medium to full-bodied, with generous dark fruit, supple tannins and fresh acidity combining to create a wine that is both easy-drinking and impressively well balanced. A subtle touch of French oak adds gentle complexity without overshadowing the purity of the fruit.
Produced by Herdade do Rocim, one of Alentejo's most exciting modern estates, Mariana is named after the family's daughter and reflects the winery's philosophy of producing authentic wines with a strong sense of place. The blend is typically Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira, with each variety vinified separately before around six months of ageing in French oak barrels. The result is a wine that captures the warmth and generosity of Alentejo while retaining freshness, elegance and excellent drinkability.
