A wonderfully concentrated and age-worthy Amarone that showcases both power and poise from one of Valpolicella’s classic vineyards. The 2015 Mazzano opens with intense aromas of baked black cherry, rich plum, fig and wild berry compote, layered with notes of mocha, dried herbs, leather and spice. On the palate it’s full-bodied and lush yet beautifully balanced, with ripe dried fruit framed by structured tannins and fresh acidity that carry through a long, lingering finish. This is Amarone with real definition and depth, reflecting both the traditional appassimento drying method and the unique limestone-inflected soils of the Mazzano cru.

Typical for Amarone, this bottling sits around 16% ABV - a result of that appassimento method mentioned prior - concentrating sugars prior to fermentation. When well crafted, this higher alcohol enhances the wine’s warmth, richness and length without feeling heavy, contributing to both structure and persistent finish.
