Domaine Mee Godard Morgon Côte du Py 2021 - Beaujolais, France
Producer's Notes:
On the nose it is distinguished by fresh aromas of red fruits, such as raspberry and redcurrant, accompanied by floral notes and a light touch of wild herbs. On the palate, the wine is bright, with dynamic acidity and delicate tannins, which give it an elegant structure. The finish is clean and refreshing, highlighting a pure expression of fruit and a subtle mineral touch.
What we say:
A benchmark expression of Morgon’s most celebrated hillside, ‘Côte du Py’ shows the depth and structure that set this cru apart, while still carrying the lift of the 2021 vintage. It opens with vivid red raspberry, redcurrant and cherry, woven with floral notes, wild herbs and a subtle stony, volcanic edge. The palate is bright and finely structured, with dynamic acidity and delicate yet persistent tannins giving it both energy and shape. There’s a beautiful sense of tension here that's fresh, precise and quietly powerful - finishing clean, mineral and refreshingly pure.
Sourced from old vines on the famed Côte du Py (one of Morgon’s most prized terroirs, known for its blue volcanic rock and ability to produce deeper, more age-worthy wines) - this cuvée is made with a low-intervention approach and typically aged in a mix of large, mostly neutral oak to preserve both structure and site expression.
