A step up in structure and depth, ‘Au Michelon’ shows the more serious, cellar-worthy side of Gamay, while still retaining Mee Godard’s signature finesse. It opens with layered red and dark fruit - raspberry, redcurrant and cherry - alongside floral notes, dried herbs and a subtle graphite and spice edge. There’s a clear mineral backbone here, reflecting the dark, sandy and stony soils of this northern Moulin-à-Vent site, giving the wine both power and elegance.

The palate is finely structured and energetic, with vibrant acidity and silky but persistent tannins creating a sense of tension rather than weight. Made with a traditional, low-intervention approach - often including a high proportion of whole clusters, gentle extraction and ageing in large, mostly neutral oak - it builds texture and age-worthiness without sacrificing purity. The finish is long, savoury and mineral, with a graceful lift that keeps everything in balance.
