Piccini ‘Buon Governo’ Governo all’Uso Toscano IGT - Tuscany, Italy
Rich, velvety and deeply rooted in Tuscan tradition, Buon Governo revives the historic Governo all’Uso Toscano method, a winemaking technique dating back centuries. Aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and plum are layered with notes of violet, sweet spice, dried herbs and a touch of cocoa. The palate is medium to full-bodied and wonderfully smooth, with generous dark fruit, soft tannins and a rounded, almost luxurious texture. Despite its richness, a thread of fresh acidity keeps the wine balanced and remarkably food-friendly.
The 'Governo' method involves adding a small portion of partially dried grapes to the fermenting wine, encouraging a secondary fermentation that enhances colour, texture and aromatic complexity. The result is a red that combines the freshness of traditional Tuscan wine with the richness and softness often associated with appassimento-style wines. Piccini’s interpretation is warm, approachable and packed with character, offering a taste of Tuscany’s winemaking heritage in every glass.
