Rochioli ‘West Block’ Pinot Noir 2004 - Russian River Valley, California, USA
Rochioli’s 2004 West Block is widely regarded as one of the standout Californian Pinots of its era - mature now, but still showing the elegance, depth and freshness that made it exceptional. On the nose: dark cherry and black raspberry mingle with subtle forest-floor earthiness, a hint of cola, tobacco leaf and undergrowth - a perfumed, evocative bouquet full of depth and nuance. On the palate: the wine delivers a silky, velvety texture with core flavours of ripe red and dark berries, gently sweet spice, tea-leaf herbs and a bracing mineral-tinged freshness. Tannins have softened but remain supportive; acidity keeps the wine vibrant, carrying the fruit into a long, refined finish.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Style: Single-vineyard, terroir-driven Pinot - elegant, balanced and age-worthy
Drink window: Now–2030+, depending on cellar conditions - drinking beautifully but with life ahead
Perfect for: Roast duck or game, mushroom dishes, grilled salmon or trout, mushroom risotto, earthy cheeses
A beautifully mature West Block Pinot Noir that marries ripe Californian fruit with forest-floor nuance, still alive and evolving - a lovely glass now, and a worthy cellar candidate for several more years at least.
Please be aware that with all vintage wines, the natural corks may crumble if using a regular corkscrew. Please use proper uncorking tools and exercise caution. Sediment will settle in the bottle over time therefore decanting prior to serving will remove this deposit. We're happy to advise - drop us a message or give us a call!
