Tarlant "Argilité" Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature - Champagne, France

A strikingly pure expression of Chardonnay, Argilité is one of Tarlant's most distinctive single-vineyard Champagnes. Intensely aromatic, it opens with notes of lemon zest, crisp pear and white peach, layered with white flowers, toasted almonds, brioche and wet chalk. The palate is razor-sharp yet beautifully textured, with an exceptionally fine mousse carrying vibrant citrus fruit, saline minerality and a subtle creaminess from extended lees ageing. Bottled with zero dosage, it is wonderfully precise and focused, finishing long with remarkable energy, purity and a lingering chalky freshness.

The Argilité cuvée is produced in tiny quantities from 100% Chardonnay grown in a single vineyard in Celles-lès-Condé. True to its name, the site is defined by clay-rich ("argile") soils, which contribute texture and depth alongside the chalky precision for which Champagne is renowned. Fermentation and maturation take place in amphorae, an uncommon choice in Champagne that enhances the wine's purity and allows the vineyard character to shine without the influence of oak. After extended ageing on its lees, the wine is disgorged Brut Nature (0 g/L dosage), creating a Champagne that is both uncompromisingly dry and beautifully balanced—a hallmark of the Tarlant family's meticulous approach to grower Champagne.
