Vicente Gandía Bobal Blanco - Utiel-Requena, Valencia, Spain
Producer's Notes:
This wine is pale yellow with a reddish hue. Aromas of wild strawberries, white flowers and ripe fruit. On the palate, it has a well-balanced acidity with a refreshing long finish reminiscent of fruits of the forest.
What we say:
Pale yellow with subtle grey and salmon reflections, this distinctive white offers expressive aromas of wild strawberry, white flowers, ripe orchard fruit and delicate stone fruit. Fresh yet gently rounded on the palate, it balances lively acidity with a softly textured feel and a long, refreshing finish marked by hints of woodland berries.
An unusual blanc de noirs made entirely from red Bobal grapes, the hand-harvested bunches are pressed whole with a very low juice yield to limit colour extraction and increase concentration. The must rests cold on its lees for three days before a cool fermentation, which is completed in French oak barrels for added texture and complexity.
Grape Variety: 100% Bobal
Style: White – Fresh, textured and delicately aromatic
Drink Window: Now – 4 years
Perfect For: Grilled fish, shellfish, seafood paella, creamy pasta or soft cheeses
An intriguing demonstration of Bobal’s versatility, combining the freshness of a white wine with subtle red-fruit character and a gently rounded, gastronomic texture.
