Vicente Gandía ‘Hoya de Cadenas’ Verdejo - Utiel-Requena, Valencia, Spain
Aromatic, rounded and wonderfully approachable, Hoya de Cadenas Verdejo offers a generous interpretation of Spain’s signature white grape. Intense aromas of tropical fruit, green apple and ripe citrus are complemented by subtle floral and honeyed notes. The palate is dry yet softly textured, with juicy apple and exotic fruit balanced by refreshing acidity. A gently unctuous texture leads into a clean, persistent finish with Verdejo’s characteristic citrus-pith and herbal edge.
Produced from organically grown Verdejo sourced from mature, traditionally bush-trained vineyards, the grapes receive approximately six hours of skin contact before fermentation. This short maceration extracts additional aroma and texture while retaining the variety’s natural freshness. Fermentation takes place at a cool 16°C to preserve the wine’s expressive fruit and floral character. Hoya de Cadenas is Vicente Gandía’s historic 300-hectare estate in Utiel-Requena, where vineyards benefit from elevation, abundant sunshine and cooling continental influences.
