Wooden Gate Reserve Orchard Queen Cider - Pilot Mound, Manitoba

Producer's Notes:

It is a crisp Rosé made from 100% Kerr crabapples. This particular crab apple was originally developed at the Morden Research Station in Manitoba and is now a treasured crab apple favorite, particularly sought after by cidermakers. You will know it by its deep red, medium sized fruit that stay on the tree long after all other apples have fallen.

What We Say:

Orchard Queen is a single-varietal Kerr crabapple cider. The darling of Manitoba apples, it was developed at the Morden Research Station in 1952. It is a pink-fleshed apple, best picked right after a hard frost. It's off-dry, crisp, and lightly acidic, with a refreshing medium level of carbonation. The fruit is expressive, showing tart red-fruit and apple flavors alongside citrus and a gentle sweetness.

The family grows, harvests, presses, ferments, blends and ages its beverages on the farm in Manitoba, working exclusively with Manitoba apples and fruit. The ciders are made in small batches and are unfiltered, so a small amount of natural sediment can remain in the bottle. This award-winning cider is a beautiful rosé color, with floral and grapefruit aromas and mild carbonation. It is fantastic with a charcuterie board, but best served with a dish of creamy vanilla ice cream!
