Bernard Baudry ‘Le Rosé’ Chinon Cabernet Franc - Loire Valley, France
Fresh, savoury and quietly serious, ‘Le Rosé’ shows exactly why Cabernet Franc can make such compelling rosé in Chinon. It opens with bright redcurrant, raspberry and wild strawberry, layered with delicate floral notes, a touch of pink peppercorn and that subtle Loire earthiness that keeps the wine grounded. The palate is dry, crisp and beautifully balanced, with juicy red fruit, lively acidity and a gentle phenolic grip giving it more texture and food-friendliness than a simple patio rosé.
Made from organically farmed Cabernet Franc grown on Baudry’s gravelly alluvial soils, the wine is produced by direct pressing rather than saignée, helping preserve freshness, pale colour and precision. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in cement vats, followed by a short élevage that keeps the focus firmly on purity, energy and drinkability.
A beautifully honest Chinon rosé - fresh, mineral and food-ready, with enough Cabernet Franc character to make it far more interesting than your average pink.
