Bonnet-Cotton ‘100% Cotton’ Côte de Brouilly Gamay - Beaujolais, France

Structured, vibrant and full of cru Beaujolais character, ‘100% Cotton’ is the emblematic wine of Domaine Bonnet-Cotton and the first cuvée Pierre Cotton made when he reclaimed his family’s Côte de Brouilly parcel. It opens with crunchy red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, layered with violet, pepper, earthy spice and a distinctive stony mineral edge. The palate is energetic and medium-bodied, with bright acidity, fine tannins and a deeper, more powerful core than simple Beaujolais, while still keeping that easy-drinking, joyful Gamay charm.

The fruit comes from old, gobelet-trained Gamay vines grown beside the winery in Odenas, on the slopes of Côte de Brouilly, where the soils are rich in decaying blue diorite and “corne verte” - a distinctive terroir Pierre describes as unique in Beaujolais. The grapes are hand-harvested and vinified as whole bunches with carbonic maceration, spontaneous fermentation and native yeasts, then aged for around eight months in old foudres and barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered and without added sulphur, it captures Bonnet-Cotton’s natural, transparent style without losing structure or seriousness.
