Richly aromatic yet wonderfully poised, Tourbillon de la Vie Rouge is a vibrant expression of Roussillon that combines Mediterranean warmth with remarkable freshness and finesse. Fragrant notes of black cherry, wild blackberry and damson are layered with violets, black olive, liquorice, cracked pepper and the unmistakable scent of wild garrigue herbs. The palate is supple and beautifully balanced, with silky tannins, lively acidity and a core of juicy dark fruit carried by savoury mineral notes into a long, elegant finish. The blend brings together Carignan, Syrah, Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre from organically farmed hillside vineyards around Calce, where schist, marl and limestone soils produce wines of striking complexity and freshness. Jean-Philippe Padié harvests by hand, ferments each parcel with indigenous yeasts and ages the wine in large neutral oak foudres and concrete tanks, allowing the fruit and terroir to remain centre stage. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with only minimal sulphur, it is a vivid reflection of both the rugged landscape and Padié's thoughtful, low-intervention philosophy.
