The fruit for Versante Nord comes from two parcels – Pietramarina and Crasa – on the cooler, north-facing side of Mt. Etna, where vines average 50 years old. Showing typical Nerello Mascalese characters, spices and red cherries dominate with a mineral volcanic undertone.

A vibrant and mineral-driven red from emerging Etna producer Eduardo Torres Acosta, Versante Nord draws its name from the cool, north-facing slopes of Mount Etna where the old vines are planted. Sourced primarily from 80 % Nerello Mascalese with a supporting cast of local varieties, this wine shows classic Etna character: spicy red cherry, raspberry and wild herbs over a backdrop of volcanic minerality. The palate is medium-bodied and finely structured, with juicy acidity, supple yet defined tannins and a slight touch of savoury funk that speaks to its purity and sense of place. The wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged in oak for complexity, marrying freshness and subtle warmth beautifully.
