Ferdinando Principiano Barbera d’Alba - Piedmont, Italy
A vibrant, terroir-driven Barbera from Ferdinando Principiano, this wine captures the producer’s hallmark style - pure fruit, high drinkability and minimal intervention. Sourced from hillside vineyards around Monforte d’Alba, it offers a beautifully fresh and authentic expression of one of Piedmont’s most beloved grapes.
Barbera is one of Piedmont’s most important grapes, known for its deep colour, low tannins and naturally high acidity, making it both refreshing and incredibly food-friendly - a true everyday classic in the region.
Organically farmed grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, with around two weeks of maceration. The wine is then aged for several months in tank, avoiding heavy oak influence to preserve the grape’s natural freshness, bright acidity and pure fruit character.
The nose is bright and inviting, showing red cherry, raspberry and plum, alongside subtle notes of violet, earth and gentle spice. On the palate it is medium-bodied and lively, with juicy red fruit, naturally high acidity and soft, fine tannins, giving it a refreshing, energetic feel. There’s a touch of rustic charm and savoury depth, leading to a clean, mouthwatering finish.
