Gián Luca Colombo Barolo – Roddi & Surrounds, Langhe, Piemonte, Italy

Producer's notes:

Intense aromas with great depth and concentration of pure fruit with slight, lifted floral and minerally notes. The palate is fresh and smooth with loads of juicy, ripe fruits, fine elegant tannins and a long length.

Aging in big Austrian barrels for a minimum of 18 months, followed by aging in various containers (terracotta or cement). Bottling after 22-24 months.

What we say:

From one of the Langhe’s most exciting young winemakers, Gian Luca Colombo’s Barolo has quickly gained a cult following for its finesse, purity, and neo-classical elegance. Sourced from select parcels around Roddi and neighbouring hillsides, it’s crafted with meticulous organic farming, gentle extraction, and minimal intervention. The result is a Barolo that’s both expressive in youth and profoundly age-worthy.

The nose opens with lifted aromas of red cherry, rose petal, blood orange, anise, and crushed stone. On the palate, it’s poised and energetic—medium-bodied with finely woven tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, savoury, mineral finish. This is Nebbiolo treated with a Burgundian sensibility: perfumed, detail-rich, and beautifully transparent.

Grape variety: Nebbiolo

Style: Perfumed, elegant, terroir-transparent Barolo

Drink window: 2026–2038+

Perfect for: Truffle dishes, game birds, ribeye, mushroom pastas, or cellaring for future depth

A modern, finely etched Barolo that turns Nebbiolo’s nobility into something luminous and precise.
