Hofgut Falkenstein 'Kugel Peter AP12' Krettnacher Euchariusberg Riesling Kabinett - Saar-Mosel, Germany

Producer's Notes:

It delivers a beautifully fresh and pure nose of smoke, spearmint, lime, greengage, green apple, almond, and smoke. The wine is very pure and light-weighted on the palate, and leaves a light, airy, and fresh long finish. This is a superbly fresh and light expression of Kabinett.

What We Say:

A classic example of Saar Riesling: light on its feet, low in alcohol, intensely mineral, and driven by brilliant acidity rather than weight. Falkenstein excels in this style year after year. Steely, racy, very pure, and long. Spontaneous fermentation, like all the wines here, with no enzymes or other additives, leads to a 'sponti' nose, showing a little reduction.
The grapes are hand-harvested and pressed. The must is allowed to settle overnight in stainless steel, allowing the heavier solids to naturally fall out. The clear juice is then transferred by gravity into traditional Mosel Fuder barrels. There, it undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts.

Grape Varietal: Riesling

Perfect For: Light Thai, Vietnamese, or Chinese dishes, Seared scallops, delicate white fish, sushi/sashimi, and classic German Speck

A delicate rather than powerful transparent expression of Saar Riesling—a compelling example of a German Kabinett.
