Producer's notes: 

All the Riesling grapes are hand-harvested, gently pressed whole bunch, and their musts are left overnight to settle naturally, before being racked and fermented with ambient yeasts in old 1,000-liter Fuder casks and a couple of 500-liter Halbfuder. The father-and-son team of Erich and Johannes Weber eschew herbicides and favor low yields—just one short “flat” or non-arched cane (Flachbogen) per vine—to produce an array of dry (trocken), off-dry (feinherb), and fruity Saar Rieslings, which represent mostly cask-by-cask bottlings.

What we say:

A shimmering, feather-light Saar Riesling from one of Germany’s most revered traditional estates, Mia AP 22 comes from old vines (“Alte Reben”) in the steep, cool slate slopes of the legendary Ockfener Bockstein. As always with Falkenstein, the winemaking is minimal and transparent - native fermentation, long aging in old fuder, no embellishment - allowing the vineyard and vintage to speak with remarkable clarity.

The nose is pure and crystalline, with aromas of white peach, lime blossom, green apple, and wet slate rising delicately from the glass. On the palate, it’s weightless yet vividly expressive: brisk Saar acidity meets gentle natural sweetness, creating a perfectly balanced Kabinett that glides with elegance. The old vines confer quiet depth and length, while the Bockstein’s signature cool-slate minerality hums throughout the finish.
