Producer's notes: 

All the Riesling grapes are hand-harvested, gently pressed whole bunch, and their musts are left overnight to settle naturally, before being racked and fermented with ambient yeasts in old 1,000-liter Fuder casks and a couple of 500-liter Halbfuder. The father-and-son team of Erich and Johannes Weber eschew herbicides and favor low yields—just one short “flat” or non-arched cane (Flachbogen) per vine—to produce an array of dry (trocken), off-dry (feinherb), and fruity Saar Rieslings, which represent mostly cask-by-cask bottlings.

A pristine, feather-light dry Riesling from one of the Saar’s most beloved traditional estates, Mutter Anna AP 1 comes from the steep, slate-rich slopes of Niedermenniger Herrenberg—a vineyard known for producing crisp, finely etched wines with exceptional purity. As with all Falkenstein bottlings, the approach is completely hands-off: organic farming, spontaneous fermentation, long élevage in neutral fuder, and zero embellishment.

The nose is bright and crystalline, showing lime zest, green apple, white peach, and delicate floral notes over a cool, smoky slate core. On the palate, it’s taut, racy, and elegantly dry—light-bodied with electric Saar acidity, shimmering minerality, and a long, ultra-refreshing finish. True to the Kabinett Trocken style, it combines delicacy with precision, making it both vibrant and highly drinkable.
